Please support me as I take an amazing journey in the fight against breast cancer! The Breast Cancer 3-Day is a 60-mile walk over the course of three days. Net proceeds benefit Susan G. Komen for the Cure and the National Philanthropic Trust, funding important breast cancer research, education, screening, and treatment. At some point in our lives, most of us will be affected by breast cancer, whether it be a mother, wife, daughter, sister, friend, or our own self, and men get breast cancer, too. It's an equal opportunity disease and it's time to put an end to it. Call me crazy, but I've committed to participating in the San Diego walk in November 2007. You can read more about the 3-Day here. At present, a team of eight WeightWatcher friends from across the country are doing the San Diego walk and I've joined forces with them. I'll have to fundraise $2,200 as a condition of participation. So this is a plea for your emotional and financial support (if you're able to contribute). A dollar for every mile that I'll be walking would be wonderful, but whatever you might be able to donate would be appreciated. Many workplaces offer donation matching programs; if you can take advantage of that, it will double the impact of whatever you are able to give. You can check with your Human Resources department, or enter your company name in this search box. Donations may be made up to 30 days after the walk event, so they do not need to be made immediately, however they are fully tax-deductible for 2006 if made before the end of the calendar year. You can make a one-time donation, or make a smaller recurring donation to assist with your budgeting. If you are not comfortable making an online donation, you can send me a check, money order, or cashier's check made payable to "Breast Cancer 3-Day" and I'll fill out the paperwork that needs to be attached to your donation and send it in for you.
